How does this gift help?

In Laos, Oxfam is helping local farmers establish their own fishing ponds, and giving them the skills to raise fish and make better use of land and water. These fish provide a source of food for families and income when they are sold at market. The men and women involved in this program also know that the fish they are eating are not exposed to polluted waters common in the region. And once they are established fish farmers, they can then use their new skills to help others develop their own sustainable fishing ponds.

“The fish pond has been very important for my family. During food shortages my wife and children do not need to work hard searching for food because I can catch sufficient fish in my pond.” Mr Thong Dam, Sabong village, Laos
