The first time your own fruit trees grow and bear fruit, you’d be forgiven for taking their picture paparazzi style. This gift of 10 funky fruit trees grows such fanciful fruits as guava, papaya and coconut to help provide communities with healthy food sources and a crop they can sell. You can’t get a gift that’s fresher!
In East Timor planting fruit trees, such as guava, papaya and coconut, provides healthy food for families and a crop to sell. More than 5,000 fruit trees, seedlings and non-food trees have been distributed to communities across Covalima and Oecusse, alongside training and support from Oxfam Australia outreach workers. “Communities have improved agricultural techniques and can grow enough food to both feed their families and earn money to pay for other household necessities, including healthcare and school fees.” Lynne Kennedy, Livelihoods and Food Security Coordinator, Oxfam Australia
